The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. VIII gave emphasis on the importance of mental health awareness during its Women’s Month culmination program on March 31, 2022.
The culmination program which was in consonance with the 2022 National Women’s Month celebration with the theme “Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, sought to further strengthen the understanding and appreciation of the employees on gender concepts, issues and concerns as well as mental health especially in this time of pandemic.
While Gender and Development (GAD) implements various activities and programs in line with its vision and mandate toward the overarching goal of gender equality and development, MGB-08 GAD Focal Point System Chairperson Marcelina Espos acknowledges that most employees still have little or less appreciation of certain GAD concepts and innovations.
“This is one strategy for us to create awareness and integrate appreciation among all employees the different GAD programs and initiatives we are actively undertaking to likewise address issues that we are all confronted with” Ms. Espos said.
Among the topics discussed were Mental Health Awareness by Mr. Jesus Caganon, Women Situationer in Region 8 and in the Mining Industry by Ms. Espos and GAD Concepts and Gender Mainstreaming by GAD Focal Person Evalyn Barillo.
