The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. VIII (MGBRO VIII) completed the field work on the declared mineral reservation: Samar Bauxite Mineral Reservation (SBMR) located in Samar Island.
The fieldwork, which started last September 24, 2021 and culminated last October 15, 2021, involved grabbing of samples or test pitting, by geologists of MGBRO8, within the Municipalities of Paranas, Motiong , and Jiabong, Samar. These three (3) municipalities are the remaining areas covered by the recent fieldwork and part of the eight (8) parcels covering the area of the mineral reservation.
As previously reported, after the analysis of the obtained samples, the result is intended to determine the value of mineral deposits in the said reservation for a possible mining exploration subject, however, to the existing area of the Samar Island Natural Park and policies of the concerned municipalities.
Senior Geologist, Mariel B. Tuonan led the fieldwork in these municipalities and assisted by Geologists Ennah Marie Ambe and Leandrew L. Luz.
