The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 08 presented the findings and recommendations of the geohazard assessment conducted in Brgy. Cabintan, Ormoc City on July 8, 2021 at the Multipurpose Hall of the New Ormoc City Hall, Ormoc City.
The geohazard assessment in Brgy. Cabintan, Ormoc City which was conducted on May 4-5, 2021, focused on the identification of possible hazards in the area especially within the residential areas of the barangay, the known tourist spots (e.g., sulfatara, rappelling site, etc.) and the illegal quarry sites. The results of the said assessment were reflected on the Geological and Geohazard Assessment Report of MGB-08 dated May 24, 2021.
The actual presentation of the findings and recommendations was in response to the letter-request of For. Rosilyn C. Sanchez, Officer-in-Charge of the Environment and Natural Resources Office - Local Government Unit of Ormoc City. It was Ormoc City’s effort to have an objective discussion regarding the said assessment.
The meeting was attended by Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Lalaine A. Marcos, representatives from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Tourism Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and officials from Brgy. Cabintan.
MGB RO-08 was represented by the Geologists Rodrigo Jay Miralles, Celes Emilio D. Sia and Iris Yvette A. Cesista.
