The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. VIII (MGB RO8) Geosciences Division attended the Virtual 2022 Geosciences Workshop on February 7-11, 2022, spearheaded by the Lands Geological Survey Division of the MGB Central Office.
The workshop included various presentations such as Updates and Concerns on Geological Laboratory Services, Updates and Concerns on Geological Information Management, Status of the National Geologic Quadrangle Mapping Program (NGQMP), Briefer on the National Committee on Geological Sciences (NCGS) and Drafting of the new Philippine Stratigraphic Guide in collaboration with GSP and Paleontological Society, Establishment of the Technical Review Committee for NGQMP, Status of Proposed Mineral Reservations and Report Submission Guidelines; Workshop on National Mineral Reservation Program (NMRP), Presentation of Workshop Outputs and Mineral Resource Validation and other Mining Application Concerns, among others.
The last day of the workshop discussed more about GEGS issues and concerns, a presentation on the Guidebook for Environmentally Critical Areas (ECA) followed by Standardized Methodology of Geohazard Operation Center.
It also had presentations of Outputs and Agreements of National Mineral Reservation Program, National Geologic Quadrangle Mapping Program, National Groundwater Resource and Vulnerability Assessment Program and National Geohazards Mapping and Assessment Program.
The 2022 Geoscience Workshop ended with the address by the Chief of LGSD Ms. Liza Socorro J. Manzano for the Ways Forward for the Geoscience Programs and a Closing Message by Engr. Juancho Pablo S. Calvez, Chief of Metallurgical Technology Division and OIC, Assistant Director in Concurrent Capacity.
