On August 20, 2021, the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of the Province of Samar convened for a regular meeting at the Provincial Capital, Catbalogan City, Province of Samar.
The PMRB Samar was created to, among others, accept, process and evaluate applications and determine administrative charges and fees for Quarry, Sand and Gravel, Guano, Gemstone Gathering and Small-Scale Mining Permits, within the Province of Samar, duly filed with the same and chaired by the Regional Director of MGB Regional Office VIII or his duly authorized representative.
The MGB was spearheaded by Regional Director, Carlos A. Tayag, and accompanied by Margarito Jerry S. Barreto, Chief, Mine Management Division, and Ayra Tuazon-Aragon, Engineer III, technical secretariat of the PMRB. On the other hand, PENRMO Wilfredo Lacambra, with his staff, attended as representative of the Provincial Governor.
Prior to the Meeting, the MGB personnel made a courtesy call with Provincial Governor of Samar, Governor Reynold Michael Tan. The MGB presented to Governor Tan the nature, composition, and function, and constitution of PMRB.
The discussion during the meeting centered on the evaluation of the existing process flow for the issuance of permit of the Province of Samar and the MGB recommended certain modifications in the procedure to allow a more efficient issuance of mining permits.
