The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 8 (MGB RO8) Geosciences Division has successfully completed its CY 2021 implementation of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA).
In line with the Geological Risk Reduction and Resiliency Program, IEC-VRA seeks to introduce and provide additional technical information on Risk Exposure Assessment (REA) towards a more efficient mainstreaming of Disaster Risk Management and sustainable development in the Philippines. Outputs from the conduct of VRA in 2019 were presented and distributed to the respective Local Government Units (LGU) during the conduct of the workshop. These includes the corresponding technical reports and maps of each LGU.
In keeping up with the health and safety measures set up against the spread of COVID-19, MGB RO8 adhered to the procedures imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. The target participants for IEC-VRA have been reduced to 10 pax, composed mainly of Heads coming from the different Departments of the LGU. Moreover, social distancing and other safety protocols have been observed during the conduct of the said event.
