On April 7 and 14, 2021, the technical personnel of Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office-08 (MGB-RO8) CONDUCTED A SERIES OF DEPUTATION/ORIENTATION SEMINAR ON MINING LAWS, RULES, AND REGULATIONS IN THE PROVINCE OF SAMAR HELD AT MAQUEDA HOTEL, CATBALOGAN CITY.
The first batch of the seminar on April 7, 2021 was attended by ninety-four (94) participants, including LGU personnel and police officers, from the Municipalities of Almagro, Gandara, Matuguinao, Pagsanghan, San Jorge, Sto. Nino, Sta. Margarita, Tagapul-an, Tarangnan, Jiabong, Motiong, the Cities of Calbayog and Catbalogan, and the Province of Samar.
The second batch of the seminar conducted on April, 2021 was attended by eighty (80) participants, including LGU personnel and police officers, from the Municipalities of Paranas, San Jose de Buan, San Sebastian, Calbiga, Hinabangan, Daram, Villareal, Zumarraga, Marabut, Pinabacdao, Basey, Sta. Rita, Tagpul-an, Talalora, San Sebastian, representatives from CENRO Sta Rita and PENRMO.
The said series of Deputation/Orientation Seminar is pursuant to Section 9 of RA 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and Section 7 (f) of DAO 2010-21 or the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 7942 in order to capacitate different police officers, government officials, and employees to police mining activities.
After the issuance of the Special Order from the MGB-RO8, all of the participants are fully deputized as Mining Enforcement Officers who will be authorized to conduct apprehension/seizure of perpetrators of illegal mining and the illegal transport of minerals and mineral products within their respective jurisdiction.
