Due to the declaration of Enhanced/General Community Quarantine in some parts of the country brought about by the impending threat of COVID-19, several of our stakeholders/permit holders were affected and resorted to suspending their operations.

Out of the fifty-three (53) approved mining tenements, twenty one (21) have suspended their operations during the COVID-19 crisis, six (6) continued their operations and the remaining twenty-six (26) tenements had no operations even before the start of COVID-19 crisis.

Out of the eighteen (18) Mineral Production Sharing Agreements (MPSAs), only one (1) MPSA remains operating in Homonhon Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar while the remaining seventeen (17) MPSAs had no operations even before the COVID-19 crisis.

For the remaining approved mining tenements, the four (4) Small-Scale Mining Contracts in Llorente, Eastern Samar have voluntarily suspended their operations due to the COVID 19 crisis, one (1) Special Mines Permit in Homonhon Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar and two (2) Exploration Permits in Calbayog City Samar and Hilongos, Leyte had no operations even before the COVID 19 crisis.
