The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 8 facilitated a Gender Sensitivity Training for its employees on November 11-12, 2019 at Ironwood Hotel, Tacloban City.
The training sought to provide the participants with an understanding of the basic concepts on gender relations and dynamics and to increase their awareness of the various global and Philippine initiatives toward gender equality and elimination of violence against women and children.
The resource speakers were Mr. Gilberto T. Villamor, Planning Officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office No. 8, Ms. Celestina U. Carranza, MGB-08 GAD Focal Person and Ms. Rebecca F. Precia, MGB-08 GAD RGFPS Chairperson.
The training, which was spearheaded by the GAD Focal Person, was part of MGB's continuing program to mainstream gender concerns to make women's as well as men's concerns an integral dimension of the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of policies and programs as mandated under Republic Act No. 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women.
