In the interest of service and in order to discuss updates, directives, instructions and resolve issues affecting the implementation of the Ten Priority Programs of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region VIII, as well as the physical and financial accomplishments of other major programs and projects as of August 2019, a Regional Management Conference was held on September 11-12, 2019 at the Haiyan Hotel and Resort, Tanauan, Leyte. The said conference was hosted by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office No. 8.
Day 1 of the conference started with the opening program and the acknowledgement of participants by the Regional Executive Director, Atty. Crizaldy M. Barcelo, CESO III. Attendees are comprised of division chiefs from DENR Region VIII, Regional Director and division chiefs from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region 8, Regional Director and division chiefs from MGB Region 8, and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) Officers, Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Officers and division chiefs from the different PENRO and CENRO all over the region. Guests who are also present during the conference are DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations – Visayas, ASec. Marcial C. Amaro, Jr., CESO III, and Center Head for Coastal Resources and Ecotourism Research, Development and Extension Center (CRERDEC), Dr. Alicia L. Lustica. After the acknowledgment of participants, the welcome remarks was delivered by the Regional Director of MGB Region 8, Leo Van V. Juguan, CESO V. It was followed by a message from ASec. Marcial C. Amaro, Jr., CESO III.
The conference proper followed afterwards, presided by RED Barcelo himself. It started with the approval of the agenda, then the presentation of physical and financial accomplishments as of August 2019 for the difference PENRO and regional offices. After all the offices have presented their accomplishments, the Finance Division Chief of DENR Region 8, Lucillie G. Longjas, presented the overall financial accomplishment of the region. Maria Teresa N. Patindol, Chief of Planning and Management Division in DENR Region 8, subsequently presented the agreements reached during the CY 2019 National Mid-Year Assessment. Shortly after all the presentations, a short program was also held to recognize this year’s retirees.
Day 2 of the conference focused on the Orientation on Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018. It was presented by Assistant Regional Director for Management Services, Arturo N. Salazar, DM, followed by updates coming from the central office delivered by ASec. Amaro. The 2-day conference ended with an open forum and a parting message from RED Barcelo.
