The Mines and Geosciences Bureau RO-8 participated in the Tourism Environment Agriculture (TEA) Summit organized by Provincial Government of Southern Leyte and Southern Leyte Lone District Congressman Roger Mercado on July 3, 2018. The summit is an initiative of the office of the lone district representative of Southern Leyte in support of their Local Development Investment Program for 2018-2022.

            The Summit gathered representatives from various sectors such as national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations and other private groups. It covered discussions and sharing of issues and concerns that could be best addressed with the concerted efforts of the stakeholders concerned.

            The Tourism, Environment and Agriculture sectors were represented by RD Karen Tiopes, USec Marcial Amaro and Assistant Secretary Lerey Panes, who shared their achievements and plans, respectively.

            At the end of the Summit a Manifesto was signed by the to signify their commitment to work together to develop and operationalize a common framework for sustainable development and to coordinate with other agencies and the concerned local government units (LGUs). The manifestos were signed by Tourism Regional Director Karina Rose Tiopes and Manager of TIEZA Construction Management Department Resurreccion Aspuria, Assistant Secretary Marcial Amaro, Jr. of the DENR, and DA Assistant Secretary Lerey Panes.
